rosemary
Rosmarinus officinalis
A perennial, evergreen, aromatic herb with needle-like leaves that emit an intense resinous scent and beautiful blue flowers. Recommended for year-round container gardening. The leaves can be harvested year-round and used, either dried or fresh, as a seasoning for meat, fish, potato dishes, tomatoes, and savoy cabbage. It aids digestion, stimulates circulation and gallbladder function; the infusion clears the respiratory tract and relieves cramps. Sow seeds under cover in March–April or directly into the ground in May–June. It grows best in a sunny location with well-drained soil.
