Paulownia, also known as the oxygen tree
The Paulownia tomentosa, also known as the Imperial Paulownia, is a highly decorative tree resistant to air pollution. It grows rapidly, forming a broad, spherical crown. It can absorb ten times more CO2 than most trees. It produces very large leaves and fragrant purple-pink flowers arranged in panicles up to 30 cm long. Sow in trays placed on a windowsill from March to June or August to October. Seeds germinate in light. They should be kept under cover during their first winter.
