Just use a temperature-sensitive egg timer. Place the timer in the pot along with the eggs (it is recommended that the eggs and the timer have the same starting temperature) and watch how it changes color while cooking! The red color slowly fades toward the center, forming a "yolk," while a white color appears around the edges of the timer, like egg white. The longer you cook the eggs, the more white color will appear on the timer, which means the eggs are setting more. The timer should be cooked along with the eggs. A special scale on the timer indicates how long to cook the eggs to achieve the desired firmness:
