Lime for tree whitewashing and soil deacidification

whitewashing

The optimal application period is from October to April. If necessary, e.g., in case of heavy rainfall, the treatment can be repeated every 3–4 weeks. The product is harmless to plants.

Whitewashing should be performed on a rain-free, preferably sunny day with a temperature above 0°C. Pour 2 liters of water into a container of sufficient capacity, then, avoiding dust, gradually add the lime and mix. The prepared lime slurry should have the consistency of thick cream. If necessary, the amount of water can be increased. Apply the prepared slurry evenly with a brush to the trunks of trees and shrubs, observing the recommended safety precautions.

Soil deacidification – liming

Before liming, it is advisable to check the soil pH with a pH meter. Deacidification should be performed in the fall after the growing season has ended or in early spring. To avoid dust, the treatment should be performed in calm weather, spreading a thin layer of lime over the soil at a rate of about 2 kg per 25 m². After spreading, mix the lime into the soil, e.g., using a metal rake.
